Money Is No Measure

Marc Tassell

(Speaks for itself)

Though you may be moneyed
Your conduct's quite uncouth
Why leave manners to the also-ranners?
For manners maketh man, forsooth

Money is no measure
In truth it tends to lie
Riches are a poor guage of a guy

You ask if I'll come floating
On your daddy's yacht
As I can tell you're gloating
Go boating I will not

Money is no measure
In truth it tends to lie
Riches are a poor guage of a guy

You beg to take me shopping
Try on a ring or two
You think I'm bewitched
But I ain't getting hitched
To a breadhead such as you

Money may bring pleasure
This I can't deny
But money is no measure of a guy

As I've fiddled with the scansion somewhat, I've uploaded a (shockingly unprofessional) audio file to avoid confusion.

This delightful tune is crying out for a middle section in the vein of that of These Foolish Things (Remind Me of You). I'm tempted to compose one but I wouldn't presume to do so without permission. :-)
