New Twingo, a French car for all!
Adrien Rivierre
Arriving at Saint Pancras, a Frenchman is leaving the station. Rain starts and Londoners near a taxi stand stare at him, feeling sorry for him. A woman slaloming in the traffic with her New Twingo arrives and picks her boyfriend up. They embody French clichés. Stuck in Piccadilly Circus, horse guards notice how beautiful is the Twingo and roll out the red carpet to free them. Next to Hyde Park the couple and Englishmen exchange French sandwiches against typical British objects like an umbrella.
1. London. St Pancras railway Station. A young man (Paul) self-confident, wearing sunglasses, a sport bag and a baguette under his arm, is leaving the station. While arriving outside, rain starts heavily. All Londoners open their umbrellas immediately and look at him like “this guy is so French”. The man chuckles happily and protects himself with his bag.
2. He walks rapidly in the pavement and stops right next to a taxi stand where tens of people are already waiting in a queue. Londoners think that he is also waiting for a cab. People keep staring at him when suddenly in the traffic a New red Twingo is slaloming and approaching with a halo of light. Rain stops.
3. The man opens the trunk and puts his bag in it. He sits in the passenger seat while keeping his baguette. He does a French kiss to his girlfriend (Sophie) while a man knocks the window and orders them to leave the place quickly because the Twingo is creating a traffic jam.
4. Arriving at Picadilly Circus the car is stuck in a traffic jam, encircled by cabs, double-deckers and horse guards. Still full of joy Paul opens the convertible roof and sits on it while eating his baguette. He tries to give some to a horse right next to him but the guard backs off briskly.
5. Sophie is smiling, her head outside the window enjoying the sun and notices that everybody contemplates the Twingo. Suddenly, horse guards start making a security perimeter. They order other cars and buses to move aside quickly and allow the Twingo to progress more easily. A red carpet is finally rolled out and trumpets ring out loudly as if it was the Queen cortege.
6. The couple parks the car next to Hyde Park. Paul opens his bag and takes several baguettes in it while Sophie takes French cheese off her handbag. They are both smiling and happy while many Londoners are gathering and staring at the New Twingo.
7. Suddenly, two kids approach the car, open the doors and get into it. An elderly couple makes a selfie in front of the car while several Royal guards are also contemplating it. Curiosity is soaring and attracting many people while the couple is still preparing sandwiches at the back.
8. The car has created a joyful and happy atmosphere. The couple starts giving their cheese sandwiches to Londoners and in exchange they give them an umbrella and a mug with a photo of Queen Elizabeth on it. Everybody enjoys the moment, plays and laughs. At the end, Paul is wearing a bearskin hat and Sophie discovers a t-shirt “I love London”!
